People who enjoy history and art could choose to visit numerous museums, castles pertaining to different periods in time, parishes and medieval villages. A different kind of masterpiece are the marble quarries, which are unique and best described as a wound in the mountain that has allowed us to discover a precious treasure within. The cities of Massa and Carrara within their historic city centre's provide a rare architectural and monumental wealth; it's squares, fountains, churches, monuments and details of urban buildings allow us to reconstruct the history of the different dominations that have occurred over the centuries.

Beyond the Apuan Alps there is Lunigiana, a wonderful land rich of history and traditions which takes its name from Luni. The medieval itinerary of „Via Francigena? which passed along the Magra river: nowadays it is possible to see signs everywhere of the old civilization which you could still visit in this charming valley with its lush landscape. Along the „Via Francigena?, but also along the smallest valleys, there are many things that reminds us of the old way of life: the austere shapes of numerous castles, medieval walled villages, precious residences and villas, towers and fortifications, Romanesque churches and small countryside churches. The „Statue Stele?, stone sculptures that date back two thousand years before Christ, are the mysterious witnesses of this very ancient civilization.
